Esther Paton
Assistant Ecologist, BSc (Hons) MSc
E sther joined Wild Service in 2025 from the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust’s Evidence Team. She has undertaken a range of ecological surveys, including botanical and UK Hab habitat surveys. She supported the Trust’s reserve condition monitoring and citizen-science Habimap programme, including processing a large amount of ecological data to inform reserve management decisions, and training volunteers. She also produces GIS habitat maps for BNG purposes.
Esther has a BSc in Zoology and a Research Masters in Ecology and the Environment from the University of Sheffield, including completing a research project on the effects of elevated atmospheric CO2 on phosphorus limited grasslands. She has a background in data analysis, mapping and writing scientific reports.
