Nicole Hawkings
Ecologist, BSc(Hons)
N icole joined Wild Service from a background in local government ecology and has been working within the sector since 2019. She has been involved in a wide range of surveys, including habitat assessments using Extended Phase 1 and UKHab, plus species specific surveys. These include bats, hazel dormouse, reptile, great crested newt, badger, water vole, otter and notable birds. She has particular experience with bats and dormice and is in the process of obtaining a Natural England level 1 class license for bats. Nicole has experience in writing a variety of technical reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) calculations and reporting.
Nicole has a degree in Biology from the University of Bath, including a final year project statistically modelling phylogenetic trees. She has a background in biological data processing and mapping, having previously worked for a Local Environment Record Centre and volunteered with museum collections. Nicole is a Qualifying member of CIEEM and holds a CSCS card.
